I have heard on the radio often today that Peter Jackson's clean-up of some film taken at Gallipoli (sp?) is being projected onto the wall of the Museum tonight from about 7:00 PM onwards & therefor there will probably be heaps of people there.

Perhaps look at a more definite place to meet up or PM each other mobile numbers to that you don't get lost in the crowd.


Now, back to the grind stone

Getting ready to go, trying to travel lightish. Often carry 50 batteries plus chargers etc, not to mention a large collection of CF cards.

Todays goal, the two batteries in the camera plus the CF onboard. Was going to try for one lens but that is pushing it!

OK so this might be GKPE IX and a half, I'm in for the Sunrise and something else after that but not the full day.

I suggest the following that people can join and leave at their convenience:
Sunrise at Westhaven around 7am-ish
Grab a coffee or something then head to Western Springs for a walk around
Zoo
Piha

No specifics around time although I imagine we would be at Western Springs around 9-10am-ish.

It takes me about that to get from Botany to newmarket in the morning in rush hour :)

At 7am on a week day it takes 30-40 minutes in the other direction. I would think half an hour would be OK.

It's an idea ;) We could likely shoot the racing from the shore. Mind you, if it's common knowledge, the viewing points may be packed.

We may also be in and gone from Westhaven by the time it starts to pack out.

So, I just had a chat with building security, he is happy to give us roof access to the building I am in (Gen-i Tower 66 Wyndham Street, aka the Pink Palace). Duncan got us up here a couple of years ago, excellent panoramic views out west for the Sunset.

He is happy for us to go up top as long as we are not up there for hours, 30 minutes or so should be OK.

The next question is when? We are talking Mon-Fri to get roof access easily at sunset time, actual time would depend on the day we choose and when the sun sets.

Let me know and we will make it happen!

We have a trip coming up...

dates 15th August 2008 - evening start.... (last pick up at airport at 8:30 pm)

Drive to the cormadel - (eastside) spend night in back packers / motel (approx $30 each) .

shoot all day saturday - sunrise -> sunset (varied locations) - but catherdral cove is a must....

Drive back to Auckland Saturday evening / night... (aftersunset) dispurse into the night or have a gathering at a GKPEr's house.

I would estamte that the whole trip will cost about $60 each plus whatever food and drink you wish to buy...
