ok i got the camera for my dad off ebay. I took over to wolf to get the film developed and Stern(a friend there) wanted to take a look at it. I messed with it for a bit and discovered that the light meter in it doesn't work properly. It's off by about 2 full increments, so you have to shot up 2 to get the correct exposure. Should i buy my dad a light meter, so that he can take better pix without having to guess about the light?

asked Stern if anyone could fix the om-1 and he said probably not, not too many people work on the old cameras anymore.

The problem really isn't finding people to work on them. It's finding the parts. I have a bunch (approximately 20) older Pentaxes, and I have at least three excellent people that come to mind here in Soiuthern California that work on them and do excellent work. What I've found myself doing is taking the worst ones cosmetically, and using them as parts donors for the ones that are in better shape.

They're worth the trouble. Like your Oly, they're reminders of a time when quality was defined a little differently than it is now.
