I am disappointed in the to this point lackluster response to voting for the photos to be included in the next POTN book. If you take the bird section as an example roughly only 100 individuals have taken the time to make their selections. I sometimes see more posts for a given shot. A lot of individuals have unselfishly given their time to put this together. I feel as a community we should reward them as well as the respective photographers by choosing from the array of well done images. I don't have a solution on how to improve the promotion of the process because I know it has been prominently displayed as an announcement on the top of each respective section. Maybe people are apathetic, don't read or are lazy.
To all that have donated their time I thank you for your efforts. To all that vote the book committee and I thank you.
I will get off my soap box and head to work.

Mike,
We targetted the submissions hard to get the images in. To be honest, the Book Team has, pretty much to a man, taken the Holidays off. Now that people are back at work I expect we will begin to drum up support for voting as the dealine approaches.
I have to say taking the time to properly review and select images to vote for is quite daunting....I know I have only barely started reviewing which I am going to vote for. And I expect a lot of people won't have given that much time to POTN over Xmas.
Thanks for the sentiment though. With over 3000 regular users, I would hope that a good %age of those could vote in at least some of the categories!

I haven't voted yet and I am on the Book Committee as well as the Image Manger for the People share. :o But I fully intend to vote at some point, probably doing one share per day until I get through them all.
But I sure would like to see more votes as well, especially if they vote for my images. ;)

You don't have to vote in all the categories if your not comfortable with all the subject matter, but please take the time to Vote in your areas of interest.
Of course if you feel up to voting in all categories, go for it!

Hope you don't mind that I edited your thread title. I didn't want someone to blow it off as being a political thread. This is the silly season here you know. :-(
NOW GET OUT AND VOTE!!

I did all my voting recently. It does take a while if you take it seriously and review all the photos properly. :-)
I know it should be obvious to everyone from the announcement posts in each section, but it is so easy to miss those. In fact it is easy to miss the sticky posts too. I think most people look straight for the non-sticky posts when they are in the forum.
I didn't notice any of the announcements about voting for the POTN book entires, but instead saw the link in EOS-Addict's signature section when I happened to read one of his posts in the forum. If it wasn't for that I probably wouldn't have noticed until I saw this thread today!
I just went and checked the photo sharing forums to double-check how the POTN book voting is being promoted and I STILL missed the announcements at first, because I was looking for promotional links in the stickies section! I hardly ever look at the stickies anway, so would never have noticed the announcement right at the top!
Just in case there are any other forum members as stupid as me, maybe you could consider sending a reminder bulk e-mail to all members, if voting is a bit slow!
Mike
