Hello,

I am looking for a new tripod and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the Gitzo GT 2330? I would like to get a CF legset, but the price of the Gitzo is a bit much for the budget. I have a Manfrotto 055XPROB at work and I'd like something a little lighter with better stability when then center post is extended. The 055MF3 weighs a little more than the Gitzo Alum set and is slightly more expensive.

If I go for the Gitzo 2330, will I have to worry about denting the legs?

thanks,
Joe

Joe, what is the biggest camera and longest lens you are planning on using with the tripod?

Right now I have a 70-200 F2.8 non-IS. I may add a 300 F4 in a couple of years, but no real plans.

I realize anything weighing more than either of these two lenses will require a much more stable platform.

Today, my main subject material is taking photos of my son's hockey games. I have a 20D and use a Manfrotto monopod to support this set. I also travel quite a bit to europe and asia and take many photos on these business trips. I'd like to take the tripod on some of these trips.

Thanks,
joe
