I don't usually start them, but here's a moderately convincing look at what might be coming down the pipe in January. I'll withhold judgement until Paul Pope has spoken:

It sure seems like a lot of trouble to go to if it's only an elaborate hoax. I also agree that the speculation of a 22mp sensor was unrealistic. 16.7 sounds much more plausible. Who knows?

That's the real deal there...

I just did some very basic maths and found the 20D pixel density on full frame would be 21 or so Mp.So that's where the 22Mp rumours came from....I doubt they're right.
This makes it all the more likely it will be a more sensible number

I must agree it does look pretty 'real'
Indeed full marks if it is fake!

The Brochure says it will be available in November, 2004. This is definitely not the time to be ordering a new 1DS!

ARgghh,
Nikon must be a little bit frustrated at this point. I would guess they (Canon) were just waiting for Nikon to announce and then to 'leak' their little secret.

Yet another classic marketing move for Canon. 8)

There is no chance in the world that I will be ordering a new 1Ds - its a little out of my league price-wise.

I'm still having an internal fight concerning the 20D. :)

I'm impressed. The nightshot shows what the 17-40 can do. The resolution is .. well... huge. But I can't see that this is the limit :D
