finally got around to building my own ringflash. i read about it on a few sites with a few variations and it seemed to me that this one (http://davidtejada.blogspot.com/2007/12/building-ring-flash.html) would be the nicest. i did not use velum like david tejada used in the link. i used an old sheet of the stuff you put over flourescent bulbs in the ceiling cut into the pattern. i also used a 4" PVC pipe connector connected to a cut cereal bowl for the inside tube, then wrapped it in aluminum foil. i'm still working on building a better bracket system, but this will hold fine until i get to home depot. i'm triggering the flash using the ebay slaves. i just posted this in the lighting forum too. it's fun, let me know if you have any questions. (p.s. check out my new 40D!!! woot!)

thank you anke. i've been a long time lurker here. i'm planning on painting the whole outside of the ringflash once i get the bracket worked out. it's also great for ebay shots without breaking out a light tent as the light wraps around the whole product.

I like the shots, what kind of trigger system are you using?

Gadget Infinity's Cactus V2S triggers.
Can you get a picture of the unit straight on and firing. It looks like it lights a little unevenly. There may be a way to correct that.

That is awesome setup. I have one of those silver dishes from a heat lamp laying around (i was trying to sell on craigslist). Glad I still have it. Time to go to Lowes to get a few more supplies.
