I made the mistake of buying an Epson 260 photo printer and found out that the ink cartridges are small and expensive. They can't be refilled because Epson won't release some code to reset the cartridges. I am getting rid of it, but need a good quality photo printer with a good reputation.
Any advise for me?
Thanks

I have a HP C5180 all in one printer. Has a tray for just 4 X 6 paper, and a separate for letter size. I've always been a Epson or Canon fan myself until mine crapped out on me. I do notice it's all about the paper, I've tried Canon, Espon, Kodak, Ilford, JetPrint and HP, all with differing results. The best paper (for this printer) is the HP Premium Plus for color and clarity, the images pop and give the WOW feeling. The printer settings also make a big difference, using an LCD I usually bump the brightness up when I print.

Just my 2 cents worth.

For a basic consumer type photo printer, any of the offerings from the big 3 should do you just fine. I switched to Canon from Epson because I got tired of Epsons heads clogging after just the slightest inactivity. I definitely wouldn't base my decision on whether the cartridges can be refilled. For text, maybe. For photos, no.

I have a Canon i9900 and love it. I don't think that model is available anymore - they're replaced it with a 10 ink cartridge one (and I'm not sure the model #). But if you can find an i9900 somewhere, scoop it. It's 8 individual ink cartridges and I can't tell the difference between lab and at home printing. I've had mine for a year and a half now and the cartridges last forever, and have only clogged once (which was a quick fix). I tend to batch print - no activity for a month or so and then print 20 photos. It's a wide carriage printer- will do small size to poster size as well.

Your budget? Large format printing?
