Out of 1416 shots, you knew that "The Wrangler" was not the ONLY one that I got. I have a bunch of Also Rans and here is one that I am fond of. Minimalist, yes. But the question is, is it effective? Too far away? Too dark?
TIA,
Rad

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!!
Photos like these (especially minimalist ones) gives me goosebumps!!!
Since your foreground is all black.......you can probably boost your saturation even more to make your sky pop!!!
...........give it a try............

Very, very, very nice!
Perfect composition with lots of "air", but I agree that the colors need a boost.

Couldn't you have tilted the camera to straighten the horizon, or should it look as if they are on a hill?

What is the objective of a minimalist photo? To see how close we can get to a blank page and still hold the viewer's interest?
Good capture of the cloud texture and color. My preferance would be to wait for more intense colors. "Ro1" says boost the saturation to make the sky pop. I would wait for the natural lighting to make the sky "pop" and try to capture that digital image. Maybe brighten up the foreground a little.
I would go for "The Wrangler". Much more interest.

That shot reminds me of Steve Martin's old "Grandmother Song":
"Be dull and boring and omnipresent"
Just kidding. I couldn't resist. Inside joke. It precedes Radtech1's favorite quote from the same song.
Nice shot. I agree that you might add a little saturation on the sky. It reminded me of a similar problem I had with a night aurora shot I was trying to get last year.
It's not much of a pic as far as auroras go, but red auroras are rare enough, and in New Jersey, it's a once in a lifetime photo opp. It was on devil's night too in 2003 which made it that much more ominous.
