i do not have a studio and don't know where to get started on the right flash, but with on camera flash is there a section for indoor party pics. is it a mute point to take these kind of pics without a 1.8 or faster lens or additonal flash and expect good pics. my main problem is that most of them have a yellowish tint to them.

There's no specific "indoor" section because a lot of different things happen indoors...sections are based on the event/subject and not the conditions.

Your solution depends on your working environment. Sometimes it means a fast lens but other times it means a good flash bounced off the wall and/or ceiling.

The yellow tint is from shooting AWB or the incorrect white balance setting under tungsten lighting.
