Ok, so tomorrow I have a photo session scheduled for a family- to whom I only have spoken on the phone. Today I accidentally meet the MOM { from this family} at the store and...she tells me ( and I can see) she has inflammation of a thyroid gland and hopes it is OK and I am still good with taking pictures of her and her family- I of course say YES, but when I get home I start thinking- how will her eyes look on pictures? ( At first when I saw her I thought she was very surprised to see me, but her eyes always have this WEIRD surprised expression) Do any of your guys ever had this kind of situation and how did you handle it? I mean I have no problem taking her pictures, but just afraid they might not turn out the way she expects! Any tips for me? Maybe I could tell her avoid eye contact with camera and that will help? Any tips will be gladly appreciated!

I've never done any kind of shooting for anyone else yet, but I don't see any woman showing up for a photography sitting if she doesn't think she looks good, for whatever reason.

If she shows, shoot a few and see how she reacts. Maybe show her a couple of the shots before going all out. Like I said, if she shows, she's obviously not as concerned about it as you are.

Good luck!

She obviously knows what she looks like, just shoot her naturally and the shots will look the better for it.

I wonder if you can have her partially close her eyes and get them back to their normal state. After a shot or two show her. I doubt the family cares, but talk to her privately about this first just in case she is embarrassed talking about it in front of the family.

Failing that, theres always the liquify tool.. :)

If she has thyroid problems, the eye thing is a common side effect of a certain thyroid disease. She knows how shw looks. She can't help the wierd look you're getting from her. Just let her see a couple of shots as you get started and see how she likes it. She might have her own suggestions.
