Thank you for posting.....I truly enjoyed his writing because it was never about the newest and greatest....just what worked for him and what would work for the average Joe on a budget. No one like him.

The popphoto piece is a very affectionate Memorial to him.

I've enjoyed his articles in Popular Photography for years. He was the voice of reason in the middle of all the hype that usually fills the pages of photography magazines. Thanks for posting the links. He will be missed!

Rest in Peace, Herbert.

Herb was a photography enthusiast from my father's era. I've enjoyed reading his columns over the years, in both Popular Photography and Modern Photography Magazines. He was certainly a strong influence in the photography industry and will be missed.

I used to read his articles quite a lot. I didn't always agree with him, but he was a good writer and photographer, and I respected his opinions. He was an influential person in the photo equipment publications industry and he'll be missed by many.

I can't even imagine how many of his articles I've read.
And more importantly, with him, I always knew who I was reading.
I could not likely tell you the names of any other Pop Photography authors. (at least not without straining )

Fair well Herbert. Even with your vast years of experience and knowledge, you always were able to tell it like it is in words we could all understand.
Thanks.

Hard to believe that Herbert's gone. As a kid who enjoyed his articles since the 70's, he just seemed quite immortal to me. His articles were always informative and well written, though like Mark C, I don't always agree with what he said. It gets one thinking though. RIP, HK, you will be missed.
