Yesterday while shooting with the 20D, I got an "Err 99" and the camera froze. I just had to turn it off and on to reset it, but it still made we wonder. I searched some other forums a bit and it seems to be some vague error code that is non-specific, but they were talking about the Mark II and 1Ds. I wasn't doing anything fancy, just using a Canon 50mm F/1.8 II lens in aperture priority, continous mode.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Hmmm, I've already started noticed quite a few posts about various types of errors, lockups, and freezeups with the 20D.

I've had no problems with mine thus far. :)

I had used the camera a bunch of times before without a problem, taking well over 500 pictures, but this was the first sporting event that I was using it for, so I took around 250 pictures and filled a 1Gb card in about an hour (This 20D sure is fast). I ended up with several folders, so I'm wondering if it's just the case where you take 15-20 pictures in a few seconds (did I mention the 20 D is fast :D ), and it creates and switches folders in the middle of that. I can't remember the exact point, but it does seem to be right around that break to a new folder.

I've seen a good 75 complaints over several boards about lockups, I think Canon need to start fixing some bugs.
Cheers.

The main reason I won't be swapping out my trusty 10D for a new 20D ..

The Err 99 wasn't THAT bad. It was only one of 1,000 shots that it happened. Take 1,000 shots with that 10d and next month when it's done writing to the CF card let me know if you had any errors.
Seriously, though, perfect_10, how do you like the 17-40mm on the 10D? I need something wide like that for my 20D but the 18-55mm kit lens is junk.

I have to say I love it .. extremely sharp and fast. It's worlds apart from kit lenses. Also, used on my film camera it is a nice wide angle.
