View Full Version : WORLD WIDE PHOTO WEEK: PART 94 -- Windows
BLS
6th of January 2008 (Sun), 19:22
The theme for this week is "Windows." Interpret this any way you like, as different and unusual interpretations are always welcome.
Here are the rules:
1. Shots need to be taken between sunrise Monday and sunset the following Sunday. Because this activity is supposed to encourage us to get out and shoot, please don't post old shots from your archives. Crummy shots and art are equally welcome -- just get out & shoot, and then share!
2. Post your shots at any time during the week.
3. Post a maximum of two shots if you're uploading them to POTN (i.e., attaching them). You can post more than two if you're linking to shots that are not hosted by POTN (i.e.,embedding them), but keep within POTN rules. Also keep within POTN rules about size. A copy of the rules can be found here: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=51049
That's it! Have fun!

Great picture of a window =). An invisible window makes you ponder whats behind the shutters.

Yeah, bit weird that ... I can't see 'em either :-) They are up there on my server along with some other shots I just uploaded that I PP'd at the same time. I can see those shots but not these two. All are jpg's. the URl's and tages, etc all treble checked and correct. It is a puzzle that I shall seek to understand and then find a remedy for!
EDIT: Ok, sorted ... very bizzare. Seems my server didn't like the titles I had given the images, namely lloydsghirkin.jpg and lloydsrear.jpg :-) Obviously thought they were some weird kinda porno shots :lol::lol::evil:

Dave -- If I right-click on your red X, and then select Properties, I'm told that these 2 shots have dimensions of 28 x 30 pixels. is this possible?

The area in which I live never ceases to amaze me. It's a bit of a Bible belt, and yet ...

Yup ... they will be the dimensions of the little red cross and not my images. I will reprocess them as clearly there is a glitch somewhere along the process. I can open on desktop no problems.

Ya saying bible folks don't wear kinky gear ;-):lol:

Dave -- Lots of good stuff to look at in your shots. The Gherkin always intrigues me. I like your view of it -- unusual and interesting.

Very good shots, everyone. I like Dave's ones.
Shame that I've lucked out again this week. I really have to get a compact, I think.

I'm going to go out and shoot some today. I've been forgetting about these threads since I started work again.
Edit >> Well this is the best I could come up with while I was walking towards the market.

I agree. I was able to get some shots today while at the zoo. Uploading them now and will try to get them up tonight or tomorrow.

Likin' that first one Crissa ... great sense of wonder captured. Here is a similar one ... but on the wonder scale maybe it occupies the opposite extreme ;-) A typical scene snapped with the G9 on my usual 8.07 commute from St Albans to St Pancras International

ooo -- An unusual door-window combination that took me a minute to understand. The graffiti on the right reminds me of Mickey Mouse, and I know that's not right.
Crissa -- I agree with Dave: your first shot is a keeper. In your 2nd shot, I enjoy looking around at all the lights and bustle.
Dave -- Can you get a shallow DOF with the G9?
Edit: Never mind, Dave. I just answered my own question.

Crissa I love your first shot as well. I tired something similar, yet different. ;) All of these were taken at the Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia, SC.

I liked the chicken house, isn't that strange? Maybe its because that house looked like a face to me.

Thanks. The zoo was great. We couldn't have picked a better time to go. It was around 60 degrees which is quite warm for this time of year. Only one exhibit was closed and a few food vendors but otherwise it was wonderful.
