Beautiful shots Mitch and I know we aren't really supposed to talk about models but she seems to only have two poses. Maybe it is the pay scale you have her on?

Thanks Marco, Gary, Brad, Mike, Steve and Sharon. This was at the park feeder I go to and using the stick and bumper routine. But these shots are so not what the reality was. The birds look like they are sitting there posing, but I tell you, there must have been two dozen of them and they would change places on the branch as fast as I could push the button. Totally unlike what these pics show.

Thanks Wizard, these guys are tame from so many people feeding them for so many years. They land on you, your lens, your clothes, there are so many of them and they are all little pigs. Put out peanuts in your hand and you'll have a fight in it. :)

Thanks Bear and Trevor. We had sun that day, and I waited til it was just right, then I picked the background. The 1D sure is showing what it can do up close. :)

Very nice. You are certainly correct that they move around fast. I feel lucky when I can get one or two shots in before they hop away.

Thanks Ted, Dennis and PK. There were so many chickadees that day I couldn't keep track of just one. I had to aim at a spot on the branch and wait for one to land there to get a shot. They just moved too fast for anything else. :)

I also like your statement "My EXIF is intact, is yours?", I'll try to join you..

Thanks Sindri. Actually, I think they are three different birds. I know the one with the misplaced feather is one I have seen before, but I just don't think any of these guys will sit still long enough for 3 shots, even at 8fps. ;)

Great series Mitch, your lucky to have such willing models (that are cute to boot).

Thanks George. They are fun. Some days it's so boring I drive down there just to feed and play with the birds. Don't even take the camera out of the case. ;)

I like all three of them but the third is my favourite by far. Nice focus, great background blur to make this little beauty "pop" and the detail is excellent. Its nice to be able to see your fine work again.

Hehe, cute captures. I know how quick these guys can be and how tough it is to get a decent shot, even when they're that tame!

Thanks Wendy. These were all taken with the 1D Classic from about 8 feet away. :)
Liz, you might know these guys. Shot at the same place we went that day. The down side is, I haven't gotten a Downy to come in this winter. There seems to be only one around this year.

Great shots Mitch...you really have your gear dialed in. Chickadees are my wifes favourite bird and she always enjoys seeing your shots of them.

Really sweet, Mitch! My neighbor somehow stole all my chickadees!!! Do you believe the nerve of that (*^&*%$(#^%?! I had to go over to his yard today to take a few shots with my new 70-200 2.8. I didn't buy it for birds, but what the heck. I'll post one later if any turned out decent.

Bluetits in the UK are the same family as your chickadee and they're hard to capture as well. Super set, Mitch.

Nice shots Mitch, I have been trying to get a good shot on one of those, but they seem to move to dang much. But I am working on it.
Thanks again for the help you have offered me.

Gotta love it! We have a couple that will feed out of our hands. They never disappoint! Really nice photos and well done.

Randal, it's simple if they are already tame or very use to people. I am lucky in having a feeder set up in our park that people have been visiting for years. The birds all around that spot are all tame. For these, I put the stick in the grill of my truck and out some sunflower seeds on the hood. All I had to do was aim at the stick and be rad with the trigger finger. :)
I've mentioned this before, but more people ought to do this in their areas. Find a good spot for a feeder and start maintaining it. Tell others where it is and have them all go by when they think of it and put some food out. Before long, the birds will start coming around all the time and it feeds on itself, people have fun, birds get fed. :)
Thanks Moose. I have fun, but I feel the birds actually enjoy human company too. :)

Thanks Michele and Eccles. How did they steal your chickadees? There oughtta be a law!
I guess he must have lured them away with better food?! Good thing you're not around with your magic peanuts or I would have no birds!! He does have some nice brambles for cover that they were all hanging out in. Nice for them, bad for the photographer :(

I don't think peanuts will work unless they are shelled or they will eat out of your hand. They are certainly too big for a chickadee to open. :)
