My 20D is recording around 2,000 photos more than I have taken. It says I have shot 2185 photos and it just isn't true. I was told that the file nuber system transfered to this camera because the CF card came out of my D60. I was told to format the card in the computer and I did that. Somone else has said to rename the file folder on the card and that didn't work either. Funny, but selecting auto reset for the file number in the camera did absoluley nothing...Dean

In order:
1) Delete everything from the CF (via your computer). The \DCIM directory and all under it. Or reformat (FAT16) in the computer.
2) Set numbering to "Reset"
3) Insert blank CF.
4) Format CF in the camera
Both the file name and the folder name contain counter information. If your \DCIM folder had a 121CANON folder under it, that would bump things up. If there's any numbering info on the CF card when you insert it into the camera, that will override the "Reset" setting.
