I found this little Dipper on a pond at Elmendorf Air Force Base here in Alaska.

Good habitat shot of a bird we don't often see on the forum. It's a little underexposed though, but Photoshop or DPP should be able to bring it up.
I just saw this "Christmas in Yellowstone" documentary on PBS the other day. It showed a Dipper feeding at a place with similar setting as in your photo.

Thank you for the comment. I would really like to see the documentary on the dipper. As far as the under exposure ...It was a really dark day, overcast. I will try to bump it up a bit in Photoshop. Thanks again.

Nice mood shot Moose. Only dipper I've seen was some near Mt. St. Helens when I was up there working. He would stand on a rock near this little stream, then wait til you blinked, then plop, he's gone, leaving you there scratching your head. The next minute, there he is again, on the rock with one little drop of water rolling off him. They would let me get within inches of them and paid me no mind. ;)

Excellent shot of a great little bird where it likes to be best..... on the water!
Moose, hope you don't mind but I have a couple of shots of our UK breed you might like to see.
Kind regards Alan.

Thank you for comments. These little birds are awesome! Though I have never been able to approach them less then about eight feet. This one buzzed my head a few times chattering at me before he finely settled down and went back to poking his head under water for a look and then "splash" in he would go. A lot of fun to watch no doubt.

canonloader, St Helens??? I just moved up here to Alaska from Oregon and have spent a lot of time exploring the St Helens area. Beautiful country!

Sharpy, thats great ...I really enjoyed seeing your version of these little birds. They look different but I am sure that they act the same ...dip-dip-bob-bob!

Thank you for sharing.

Yeah, St. Helens was a great place. I stayed in Cougar when I wasn't working, which was 18 hours a day. I spent most of my time on the mountain. :)

It looks like it is healthy, must be something in the water he likes. Great web site, lots of fantastic photographs. I would not even want to guess the number of hours you have enjoyed in photography. Both in the field and inside working on your prints.

Glad you like the photos on the web site. As far as time spent in the field ...If I'm not fly-fishing ...I'm lugging around 40-pounds of photo equipment and shooting day and night. For some it may sound nutty, but I wouldn't have it any other way. :D

Digital photography is still a little new to me. My problems usually start in/with Photo Shop. I need to take a class ...Soon!

Thank you for the nice comments.
