I got a picture with annoying backlight. The major project is exposed well, but way too much over-exposure in the background. Is there anyway, I can use layer then darken that over exposed area, then merge them together?

Thanks,

Have you got the picture so we can have a look?

Here is a sample with a reflection of the gym floor. I like to take out the reflection as much as possible. Sorry, I don't have the permission to show the player, but it has perfect exposure at player. Can you explain what you did as well. I have original raw file. Tried HDR method, it didn't work...

That area reads 255,255,255 in PS. Is there any information in the raw for that area? You can do multiple exposure raw then build a mask to blend 2 together. If all else fails then use a clone tool. You can always go back and take some blank shots from same position and blend 2 together leaving the player from the previous shoot.

Hmmm.. I actually tried HDR method. I under expose that image, then HDR under the bridge (blend I think) the two JPGs together, the result is horrible. Lots of weird lighting circles everywhere... Clone that huge area, could be challenge as well since the floor has pattern on it, not like a white wall.. hmmm...
