I got worried about some back focusing issues with my camera based on some recent photos. I think the test proves that i dont in fact have a back focusing issue...i did however notice another problem.

I then took the same shot at 400mm f/64 and...wow

I ordered the essential tools 10 mins later

Timmy,

Bad boy.... I hope you have checked on the correct way of re-homing a dust bunny colony. Be careful or you will have the animal rights people on your back for unethical cleaning of sentient life forms. I guess your filter has passed the sandstorm test, only other thing is the wet concrete test, but only if you want a doorstop.

Good luck with the cleaning

Is there a favorite lens cleaning kit out there? Does anyone actually make a sensor cleaning kit? I went to the mall and picked something up, but it's against my religion to keep anything on my person with the name 'Quantaray'... ughhhh it gives me shivers.

Here is a link to a Canon 1D MkII Tutorial:

http://www.photoworkshop.com/canon/markII/mainpage.html

Click on "View Tutorial". When the new window pops up click on "Sensor Cleaning Tips"

You will need a Gittos Rocket Blaster:

Note-I am not recommending Pictureline.com. It was difficult to find a
retailer that pictured the Rocket Blaster.

I think the less invasive approach, first, is best IMHO.

You were successful cleaning about 98% of the sensor crud off. But you still have a few specks left.

I've always had great success with my simple sensor cleaner: one Q-tip and a half drop of lens cleaner.

I'm never patient enough, 98% is good enough for me as i'll just be doing this again in a few weeks anyways i'm sure.

I thought about a qtip, but i was worried about it leaving lint behind

You have to buy CANON Q-tips.

No, seriously, the purpose of the half drop of lens cleaner is to make the cotton ball hang together and not shed.

Besides, as you already know, it is simple to see a long fiber that is left as sensor crud. It is a little harder to see individual specks.

True, i may try that next time. The pec-pads a great, and cheap, so no loss there...but i really didnt like the lack of controll i had with it.
