Thanks everyone.
Both were done with the camera on Bulb setting in near total darkness.
I had a little pocket keychain LED flashlight (total size is about that of a US quarter).
I opened the shutter and stuck my hand down inside the vase, turned on the LED light and drew the stem upwards then when I got to the top of the stem I drew the flower portion. Then shut the LED off and started the process over again until I thought I had enough flowers. Then I closed the shutter.
I'm guessing it's the wavelength of the LED that gives the blue impression, the light looks white to the eye.
Thanks again,
Jay

Thanks. I used an ISO of 100 and f/22 so there would be little chance of me showing up unless I paused for a very long time. All the light on the table and in the vase is all from the little LED light over the 32 second exposure.
Take care,
Jay

Great concept and very nice execution... i think #1 could be a winner too if you tried it again with a tighter composition.

That confused me but it is so cool. Im new to all this so im not sure what you mean by drawing the stems and how did you get your hand in the vase while holding the light?

Hi Teri,
The LED light is very small... I've posted a photo below of a similar LED light.
The opening of the vase is about 5 inches across so you can get you hand down inside of the vase.
I pointed the LED towards the tripod to be sure the LED was visible as it came up and out of the vase. After opening the shutter I put my hand down in the vase and pressed the LED button and began to draw the first flower. then I shut the light off after finishing the flower and repeated the process.
Take care,
Jay
