Just wanted to know what people selling photos do to come up with prices and how they run their biz. I just wanted opinions and see how successful it is for people to sell their photos. I would really like to try it myself, but am not quite sure of where to start.I have heard of W gallery and CafePress, and also DotPress and oscommerce, but really don't know much about them.
I have tried stock photo agencies, but with no sucess at all.I do mostly land and seascapes and wildlife. I don't want to depend on this for my life ,but rather a side business where i can make a few dollars hopefully.
Any help, tips or info would be greatly appreciated

When I started my business, I looked at what other photographers in my market charged and set my prices accordingly. To start a business takes quite an investment of time, money, and effort to ensure success. One should be very familiar with the aspects of running a small business, including marketing and bookkeeping. Go to the Small Business Administration website, as there is a wealth of information there that will help you get started.

When I first started out I was selling fine art prints at craft shows, county fairs, and briefly in a small local gallery. I would print up a few 16x20's of various "best sellers" and then print up alot of 11x14, 8x10 and some 4x6 "post cards" I would probaly print 300 bucks worth and only make 500-600 depending on the crowd. My best weekend I sold almost $1400 worth and was sold completely out.
