View Full Version : Stupid CS3 Mac problem

Just got a new MacBook Pro and the free trail of CS3. I have a PC and CS2 and everything works great, but:

On the Mac, when I open CS3, it opens Bridge. Bridge opens just fine. The CS3 will open the menu bars, tools and palette, but the background is completely blank and shows whatever is opened on the desktop. If I click on the desktop, the CS3 goes away to the dock. When I open pics, it works fine as long as I do a full view.

I thought it was a view option or a preference, but whatever I do, I cannot get this to open the way I would like it to. I do not what the background to show the desktop.

Any ideas?

Yes, it's a bit annoying that it does that, and I've not seen (or even looked that hard) for a way of maximizing the window properly.

What I've done is set up Spaces so that CS3 opens up in Space 4. Then at least I know that it's got a home of it's own and I generally don't get lost any between the windows any more.

Have you had your mac very long, that's just the way programs are on a mac. Its great when you get used to it. I find it very handy to be able to see programs and objects underneath PS when I'm working.

Guess I will get used to it....kind of strange to see it like that. I just got the Mac on Friday so I am still feeling it out.

Trust me, I know its a change, but you'll find it a much nicer environment in the end. Welcome to the Dark Side ;)

In photoshop push the "F" key to cycle through the various screen view modes available. You can choose not to have the desktop visible in the background if you pefer.

Yes, that works so long as you have a document open.

This freaked Ron out for a bit when he got his iMac a month or two ago. He got used to it quickly and loves his mac. :)

I've been doing this, but as TonyS said, that only works if you have a pic opened. I'll get used to it sometime.....once I get my head around running CS2 on my PC and CS3 on my Mac.

So far the Leopard layout is very nice....I like the dock and the finder. Picked up an slim external hard drive to back up time machine to (they are cheap anyway).

I was planning on running aperture and CS3, but I can run most of my shots through PS fairly quickly, so I may end up not using aperture at all....I'll give it a few more weeks before I decide.

The airport extreme base works very well. My speeds for downloads are amazingly fast, I think it was somewhere in the neighborhood of 5700 kbps.
