I think they're all really good, but the third and fourth are the best. :-)

I presume you used some HDR processing on these, didn't you?

I was going to ask the same thing. :lol: I really love the one with the tower. They're all amazing shots!

You really nailed a cool illusion in #3...

Think about it folks. Why would it look like it went around Big Ben?

Very cool stuff! 2 is my fave with 3 coming in a close second.

For number 2, did you just drop your tripod down in the middle of the road there?

Crazy pics, I like #3 best. You nailed the exposure quite well! 1, 2 and 3 seem to be slightly tilted though. Thanks for sharing.

No HDR Mike ;) just long exposure.

A London double decker bus.

Yeah, camera mounted on tripod in front of "Keep Left" bollard.

Thanks everyone for the feedback.

No1 = 6 second exposure, F16, ISO 200
No2 = 4 second exposure, F13, ISO 200
No3 = 30 second exposure, F14, ISO 100
No4 = 30 second exposure, F22, ISO 100

If you are unsure what settings to use I recommend you start on "Shutter Priority" and then start at 1 second exposure.
Then experiment by increasing the time of the exposure, as the outcome you require all depends on the speed and volume of traffic.
Keep to low ISO settings to reduce noise.
You will need at sturdy tripod and a remote release to eliminate camera shake.

Good luck and enjoy!

No HDR Mike ;) just long exposure.

Blimey, I would have put money on at least the first two being HDR! :lol:

Nice job with the exposures then! :-D

Great photos, especially the third - had to double take that one!

Check out the UK South East thread - could be an upcoming meet soon perhaps in London or along a Southern coast somewhere

The blue sky in dusk looks very similar to what I saw a few months ago:

:lol: Thanks - was made with 3 cameras, 3 big lens (120-300 sigma, 100-400 and I think a 70-200 2.8 or maybe was a 50-500 Bigma) plus a whole load of others.

Thanks TeeTee

Great sharpness as well.
Not bad for the standard Canon 18-55mm Kit lense.

Nice shots...Very ballsy move on the first 2...I don't think I would've been shooting from there when I crossed tower bridge...

Great exposure on number three, did you do something in processing to keep the detail in the clock face? The inwared lean on the building above Westminster station does put me off though. Not too keen on number 4 myself as it is just too busy with the lines going everywhere.

On the second Tower Bridge one though the busyness works well as the lines lead you into the photo. I think something with a level of traffic between this and the first one would be magnificent. But I really like both of those.

And the colour in the sky is fantastic. And very brave of you to be in front of the bollard at rush hour!

Michael.

Well that's certainly inspired me. Fabulous shots and very educational as to how to get a great long exposure.

Now all I need is one evening when it's not peeing it down. :D
