I recently purchased a 1D Mark II. I have shot dozens of pictures and have been disappointed. Every picture I have taken I have had to use a program called FocusMagic as a plugin to PhotoShopCS to bring them into sharp focus. I am using a Sharp setting of 2 on the camera.
I have used several lenes including: 70-200 2.8 L, 24-70 2.8 L, and a 17-40 4.0 L. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how have you corrected it?

I also own a 10D and the problem is not nearly as bad.

I think you should get repair to check you Mark II, and especially your lenses with it.

I have never had problems with 1D Mark II sharpness. I had initially some very slight focus error (specifically slight front-focusing with aperture 1.2 on 85/1.2L) and after they fixed couple of other things in it and cleaned it the camera performs now 100% correct even with 1.2. I do not know if Firmware 1.02 has anything to do with this but they updated that, too. My problem was only with that one lens. Now the camera and image it produces is in a word perfect.

Perhaps you could post demo how your "unsharp" looks like, with camera settings?
