I really know nothing about point and shoots, so any help will be very much appreciated.

My grandfather wants to get a digital camera. He is VERY technologically illiterate. An example of this is I have to set his watch every day light savings because he cannot figure out how to do it. So with this in mind, I want to try and find a decent point and shoot for him that will be as idiot proof as possible, but still take great pictures.

I looked at the A650IS with a printer combo at Costco. In just the little that I played with it, it seemed to be a decent camera.

I am guessing the you can just shoot it on the green box mode (assuming there is a green box, I cannot remember)? Does it take good photo's in auto mode?

Has anyone direct printed from the camera (w/o a computer)? How idiot proof is doing this?

I really do not want to be over at his house helping them every day, so I need to find something that a monkey could use. I personally like the Canon at first impression, but I would be more than happy to listen to other suggestions. I looked at the Kodak C613 w/ G610 printing dock. I have use Kodaks a little before, as that is what my daughter uses. Kodak seem like they are good for the price, but just mediocre when you put the price aside.

Please, let me know what you think.

If you want idiot-proof, the A650 has too many features he can accidentally activate or deactivate. I'd suggest no A-series above the A560; alternatively pick up an SD-series. They don't offer the options for user control that the A650 does. For instance, my A620's Mode dial quite easily slips from mode to mode as I take it in and out of the case; I sometimes find myself in unwanted modes as a result. The SD-series will require him to push a couple of buttons in order to get out of full auto.
