My first photo post

40d with a 50mm 1.4 lens, shot at 800 ISO, 1.4F, 1/100, a little bit of sharpening and BW conversion of course.

My first photo I'm posting so any and all input is welcome.

Underexposed and a little too contrasty.
Had you exposed longer or raised the brightness in PS, the white hotspot on the nose and other places would spread and get worse.
Using Levels and changing only the mid-tone slider to the right will improve things considerably.

Yeah, that's about what I got. Notice that the blown out highlight on the nose and the one in the small of his back cannot be helped - they're just too far gone.

This image does come back with a little work.
Worth it as it is a good one.
