how do i start as a photographer?
i am in the advertising business in sales and marketing and have a passion for photography. i would like to convert it into my profession. and i am 34. so its like switching careers midstream.
should i work as an assistant to a photographer and then work towards or should i set up a studio and hire professionals.
what are key factors in setting up a studio.
basically should it be slow and steady or plunge in full stream.

Yip...slow and steady. Learn to float before you go head first, otherwise you'll sink ;)

Hook up with local camera clubs, photographers etc. You may meet up with someone in exactly the same boat as you.

1/ Don't give up your day job!
2/ Show us some samples so we know where you're starting from.
3/ I don't see "should i work as an assistant to a photographer and then work towards or should i set up a studio and hire professionals." as either/or?
4/ So, "slow and steady" seems like a good plan.
