Good price for a great lense. The image quality is excellent but it cannot be used with the TC's and the minimum focusing distance is only 6ft. I believe.

I have one. It's a great lens, especially on a DSLR. I hear there's slight bit of vignetting on full-frame. It lacks USM but AF is still fairly quiet. Also, there's no full-time manual focusing (FTM). OTOH, it's not white, so it's much less obtrusive.

$650 is around the going rate on Ebay.

It cannot use the EF extenders directly. Will it be a problem to you?

(BTW, you can use some 3rd party TC...)

I have the lens and it's sharp...rated higher in photodo than the newer white version. I paid $300 for mine but it is not in mint shape. It's heavy but all of the 2.8 zoom lenses are heavy. If you don't need f 2.8, I'd get the f4 L lens which is much lighter and more convenient to carry around. I have that one too and that is a great lens in about the same price range or a little less if I remember.

Hey, Scott, up in Dawsonville ....

I'm just right down the road from you in Marietta .....

I've got that lens, too - and I'll echo what other posters have had to say about it: it's a great lens, and it's very sharp. I don't think you can go wrong if you can get one for about that $650.00 price .....

I have a Vivitar 1.4 TC that works with this lens. It'll still autofocus with no problems and there's little to no sacrifice to image quality.
