^^^^^What about the door prizes? I left at about 9:00 (with a number of others) due to an early morning flight on Friday.
I must admit that I was surprised by the size of the turnout - well over 400 people based on the 480 chairs that were arranged in the hall.
Oh yeah... I forgot about the door prizes. I really wanted that lightroom tutorial DVD. I ended up subscribing to Photovision while I was there... I figured for $35 I wouldn't be disappointed if it was junk. Overall it was quite enjoyable. I went to the Detroit (north) seminar.

I wouldn't mind but I can't go now. If anyone from Boston wants to go I have already paid. All that I ask is for the DVD's to view after you are done with them. Just PM me and I will scan my receipt and email it to you.
Thanks

I have 2 tix to the Cincinnati event. Unfortunately (well sorta), I landed a photo gig in Italy that overlaps the seminar.
So first person to e-mail me gets a free set of tix...compliments of me. Free. Libre. Kostenlos. Gratuit. Libero. :D

I thought this seminar was really good. He does try to push his products but if you look past that (and are a beginner/maybe intermediate to lighting) you will learn a lot. I definetly did, and I haven't watched the dvds yet.
The trade show thing was kinda small/boring but I liked all the samples WHCC had there. The canon booth wasn't that exciting to me because I spent the earlier part of the day in b&h.
Also, I think I was the only person under 30 there. And I'm 19... lol

Sam, you've got me worried! I'm 19 and just bought my tickets today.
I wonder if Ed has realized that this whole forum has their hands on the discount code...I hope that doesnt bite us in the ass the next time someone wants to do a seminar of this type :-P
I'm signed up for the Washington DC (Chantilly, VA) show, along with ~170 others, anyone here?

So, has anyone been to the seminar yet? How is it? Even though it's only $19, it would cost me a vacation day as well. Is it hands on or only classroom setting? That looks like a lot to cover in 1 day if hands on and/or very in depth.
Thanks.

Haha, I had fun though. Learned a lot. The guy next to me fell asleep halfway through :D
I thought it was quite good, especially for $19.
swampler, there was no hands on aspect of it. It was just Ed at the top going over mostly powerpoints and videos, at times demonstrating things with his camera. He also spoke on his own for a while. I am used to this format from college lectures, so it was fine for me, and better because I'm kind of a light newbie so I learned a lot and didn't need the specific hands on aspect.

Every one of his vendors is offering the discount so I don't think that's a major fear. They're just trying to get as many folks as they can in the door. He's making a big pile of money at $19.00 a head. (Plus the vendor's contributions, plus product sales, plus, plus and plus.)

Went to the weekend one in DC. I liked it. Did not stay for the entire thing. Took my son to the park to walk around. Westcott was not there. Sad as I wanted to see the gear. Got to play with the high end Canon lens and cameras. The NIK software demo made me almost buy it but I held out.
I really want the 70-200 4l IS now.
