The goalie has the toughest job night in and night out in my opinion.. I have had the pleasure to follow the NHL for the past 3 seasons and one of the best teams in the league the Detroit Red Wings..... Enjoy.......

hmm.. you show us two of a goalie's worst nitemares:
a puck in the head, and a puck in the sack. i absolutely hated both.
i like the colour of the first one. it shows how crisp the uniforms really are, something you don't see watching on tv. you only get to see that live.

Great shots ! Especially the Dominator. Nice and sharp - the logo on the puck is easy to see. This is a 'view the frozen moment' shot. (from nhl.com)
What ISO do you get to set at under the bright lights?
Always had a soft spot in my blue 'n' white heart for the Wings. Got it when I lived in MI for a few years. And The Joe is a great place to see a game, provided you're wearing red & white.
Actually I like all the original 5.
(I know there's 6, but a true Leaf Fan just ignores Montreal) :)

Those are two awesome pics full of vibrant color and clarity. Was the second shot during warmups? The crowd's eyes seem to be everywhere but watching the goal area. Just curious. GO WILD!!!:D

Hey, I checked out your gallery and seen the Gaborik picture (http://www.pbase.com/tturrill/image/90063681). As someone who knows what happened in that shot I can especially appreciate your camera skills on that one. Hopefully you had the camera set on multi-frame burst to capture the entire somersault. ;) Very nice work!!

Only us hockey geeks would pick up on the crowd's eyes. I remember going to the Flyers games early and catching warmups. That was the best.
Lindbergh, Hextall. Ahhh the good ol' days.

Yea, I loved the warmups too...that is until the NHL put up the nets behind the goals about 5 or 6 years ago. It was the best time to catch flying pucks and get a FREE game souvenir. :)

Definitely loving these. Like Doug said, those were always my two worst scenarios. Well, that and having my mom potentially run onto the ice to see if I was okay (when I was in HS!).
Great images. Do I dare say go Rangers??

Great shots, but too bad that wasn't Osgood in the Hasek picture. You're a lucky man to be able to take your DSLR to the Joe...

the eyes were the second thing i noticed, and said hmm.. practice? warm up?
the camera angle made me wonder if he managed to get on the ice during the warm up too.

Great shots Tom !Clearly depicts why goalies have the hardest gob in hockey, between being screened and getting shot at ,not the easiest way to make a paycheck. Would love to see more goalies from the original 6. ............ :) GO WINGS ! :)
