mono tone will definitely enhance the mood of the shot, add a much stronger impact.

also when taking photos of people, try level camera with their eyes, it gave me the feel that camera was slightly higher than their eye level, kind "looking down" feel, which is not a strong point, personally speaking, unless it's the effect you want to achieve, then it's a different matter.
