Found this little chalcid wasp just giving up the ghost on one of my water barrels yesterday. I wouldn't normally shoot bugs in this state but it was so beautiful I thought it worth recording. Haven't seen this one before - about 1.7mm body length. :(

Not sure- didn't seem to be marked in any way so guess it was just the end of it's short lifespan.

Hiya Brian,
Excellent shot, love how you captured its iridescence, in #2 beautiful :D
I'm intrigued, whilst looking at the live UK lightening strikes day afore yesterday ( wada geek eh ) I notice a strike that appeared to be almost on your house if not it was bloody close
Anyway back to the kitchen, no I'm not creating a wonderful dish, I'm having to completely alter the units either side of the Range as the new one is much bigger that that of the old one  what a palaver especially one handed, mind you it's amazing what one can hold in the cheeks of ones arse when the chips are down or should that be pants :lol:
Recon it'll take me a week to do so still no time for shooting just cutting & cussin
Cheers for now

Probably is the end of a short life span. I find the markings on top of the head, along with the ocelli to be pretty interesting. :D

stunning markins. I, for one, am thankful that you shared this, despite the circumstances.

Interesting series. Aside from the excitement of the hunt, we rarely capture mortality. Good work.

Nice shots Brian. Lovely looking wasp, with some amazing coloring. The wings are quite wide compared to what I am used to seeing here.
