Hi all. I've just joined the forum and this is my first post. I got an Ixus 70 for christmas and i like it a lot i just have 1 problem with it. Whenever i set it to AUTO mode and turn off the flash and try to take picture the quality is terrible and it's all blurry. I've looked about on the net to try and find what its all about but i havn't come across anything yet so i thought i'd try here. Does anybody have the same problem and can anyone help??
Thanks very much, Robert.

ps Iv added a picture that i tried to take without a flash as an example of what im talking about.

It's not getting enough light. I checked your exif, and the shutter speed is at 1/3 of a second which is far too slow to avoid camera shake. You'll want a shutter speed of at least 1/50 or faster to avoid it.

I'm afraid in auto mode, you'll have to use the flash unless you have a tripod.

I probably wouldn't even try increasing the ISO in manual mode (if it has it) as it's a point n shoot and anything above 400 would be undesirable.

So basically it's just the way the camera is and it's not a fault? Thanks for the help sadatk.

Pretty much. Try resting the camera someplace and taking a picture in low light if you don't want to use flash. Or lean your arm/body against a wall or a platform. It should help you steady the camera. But a tripod would still be your best bet.

I've experienced exactly the same in low light - it's a nightmare for trying to take pics at gigs etc (When it's not possible to get a DSLR in with you!)
