I am going to purchase some lighting equipment and i was looking for some feedback as to what people thouhgt.

I am looking at the following lights: Photoflex StarFlash Medium Gemini 2 Monolight Kit - includes: 2- 650 W/S StarFlashes, 2- 24x32" LiteDomes, Adapter Rings, Light Stands, Sync Cord, Case - 1300 Total Watt/Seconds (120VAC

First question is: Is this a good brand?
Second Question: Would this be a good choice for portrait work?
Last question: I found the light kit at B&H and Adorama.
B&H (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/490698-REG/Photoflex_SK_SF6502MXTB_StarFlash_Medium_Gemini_2. html) has them for $1377
Adaroma (http://www.adorama.com/PFSF650GLKC.html?searchinfo=photoflex%20650&item_no=13)has the same kit for $1200

I have bought many things from B&H and have been happy but i havent purchased anything from Adaroma. At face value it seems like a no brainer; a $177 savings. But will i get the same quality as i have from B&H, i.e. i feel confident that B&H is sending me new, good condition stuff.

Sorry I can't help with the lighting questions, but as far as Adorama I've ordered from there without any problems. As long as it's a reputable business (www.resellerratings.com) I shop by price, not business name.

for that price, you may want to check out alien bees (www.alienbees.com) which are highly regarded, well built, and a darn good value.

Starflash is a new product in the market. I have that 24x32 softbox, and that 650 flash can only goes down to 1/8, by my calculation at 6 ft and iso 100, that strobe/sb combo will give you minimum f8 and no lower, that's way over kill for a small studio.
