I have heard different ways to hold your camera, wondering how you all hold it when your taking a pic to make it more stable.
I have always held mine with my left hand underneath the camera and I try to remember to hold in my elbows to my chest but I forget sometimes.

Yes, I hold mine like that, with my left hand underneath the body and the lens too, depending on what lens I have fitted.

Same here, it just seems and feels more natural to hold it that way. At the same time I deviate from that pose if it means getting the shot I want.
Also, most times I dont need to be insanely still to get a sharp image, if I feel that sharpness is critical such as a closeup, I will control my breathing and fire at the end of an exhale.

If I am standing, I will sometimes (depending on how long the shutter)
I will have my left hand on the bottom of the lens, or camera (Lens of it is long,) and then my elbow on top of my pant line\belt and my right arm on the shutter but also pushing against my gut and resting on my belt, for more support I may even hold the camera below my face, and hold it with my chin and both hands, and just form to the camera... lol

I carry the weight of the camera/lens in my right hand (that seems to be where the grip is on the body).
Unlike most of you, I use my left hand to hold and manoeuvre the lens with my palm down (left thumb under the lens). I think the reason this feels more comfortable than palm facing up is that having played the piano for 61 years (often for several hours a day), my hands face palm downward quite naturally and comfortably. In fact, holding my hands in front of me and turning the palms up is actually a bit awkwerd.

My "pot-gut" acts as a pretty solid platform for my left elbow :) ... well, not pretty - but solid and R O U N D :o
Alas - I'm workin on the 'pot-gut' and it's slowly deflating

You are holding your camera the recommended way. Not sure what model you are using, but you need to get familiar with the controls such that you can change them without dropping the camera from your eye. This is more difficult on some of the more basic models.
Your body stance is also important in addition to your hand position. When hand holding you are basically trying to provide the most stable platform for the camera as possible, wether standing, kneeling or lying down.

Apply the techniques of military snipers as much as possible, elbows in and bone on bone if possible and wrap that strap as tight as you can.
