Hi All.
I purchased a 10d and a 70-200f4 and really like that combo, but I have an obvious need for something wider. I tried the Sigma 18-125 and thought for the money it was a heck of a deal, but found it too soft. I've been thinking about a 15-30 sigma but wonder if that is leaving too large a hole in the middle. I can't really justify spending the money for "L" lenses. I hear it will be hard to find a value like the 70-200 but one can hope. I'm really just looking for any recommendations.

Thanks,
Zaxdad

Get the 50/1.8 to fill the hole. I'm sure that some others will suggest the 17-40/4L.

BTW, don't feel unsafe for any hole...

Get the 50 f/1.8 regardless. For the money you can't get a better lens.

I'd recommend the 17-40 f/4, but if it a little expensive for your taste, then consider the 24-85 f/3.5-4.5. It has a nice overlap with the 70-200 and the filter size is the same wierd 67mm.

Adorama has a used one right now for $209:

There is also the 28-135, but that still leaves you lacking something REALLY wide. On the 10D to get ultrawide you'll want something less than 20 mm. For this, if you are on a budget, I might recommend two 19-35 lenses from Tokina and Vivitar... They run about $150 or so, and can go as low as $90 on Ebay. And these two lenses are very highly regarded, as surprising as that may be.

I also think Tamron makes a 19-35.
