Hi,
About a year ago I bought a 1.2 megapixel camera made by Panasonic. Looking back now those images are horrible, but I so enjoyed taking pictures that I ugraded to a 3.2, then the 4.0 Casio Exilim I own now. But photography has taken a grasp on me that I only assume you all can understand, as you are so enamored with it yourselves. Anyway, I am now at the point where I want to do more than what a point and shoot camera can deliver. Don't get me wrong, my Casio takes gorgeous pictures, especially outdoors, but nothing compared to what the Digital Rebel does. I am prepared to invest whatever money it takes, (within reason) to take my hobby to the next level, however, I am not very knowledgable at all about lenses and terminology associated with them and these types of cameras. I have purchased several magazines and now have a much better grip on things, but nowhere near what I need to be at.
In any case, the reason I am writing to you all is that I need advice on what kind of lens to get with this camera. Generally I enjoy taking scenic outdoor pictures. Trees, water, sunsets, etc. What would be my best choice as far as lenses go for those types of pictures? Also, what about portraits? Any help would be appreciated immensely! And if there are any things that you think I should know I would ge grateful for any information you could render. Once again, thanks!

Chris

The Digital Rebel is fine enough for general shooting. Any good medium-range zoom lens will do. You won't need anything particularly long nor particularly wide. One favorite lens is the Canon 28-135mm IS.

The kit lens is a decent lens. Just remember that the DRebel is not a point and shoot camera. You may be disappointed initially with your photos, but don't get discouraged. Keep visiting forums like this one and ask questions.
