has anyone had the 300D lockup? ive had teh camera for about 2 months. but had it lock up 3 times. once was when i was taking a picture at night and when it was writing the image to file, it froze. nothing works, i had to turn off power and remove battery pack.
second time was when i had the camera on, and then it just froze after auto battery save. normal when it auto turns off, i press the shutter button and teh camera goes back on, but that time nothing happend.
the third time i cant remember how it happend =T
anyone have experiences with this? i have firmware version 1.1.1.1

I have over 14,000 actuations on my DRebel and change lenses constantly. Camera has never done me wrong - a few ERR 99 message here and there that dissappeared when turning camera off and on..

My 300D froze up once many months ago.
I also received an ERR99 the same day.
However, since then it's never happened again!

Could be anything.
Maybe the battery was low.
Perhaps the CF card is a little wonky.
It's really hard to say.
Even owners of the 1D MKII have reports of similar lockups/errors, so I wouldnt feel too bad. :)
The good news is it's under warranty. So you have 10 months to think about getting it fixed. I would say if it happens a couple more times, send it back. You have nothing to lose but a little bit of time.
From what I've heard, there is a good chance it may not happen again.
It's almost as if the camera become MORE reliable with time and use.

hey that actually is true.. when i first got my car, after about 2 months the car wouldnt start, not even cranking. i changed teh battery to no avail. and book a time for it to be taken in to the stealership for inspection 2 weeks later. then all of a sudden 2 days b4 my appointment the car fixed itself and was running and has been running perfectly since :? so HOPEFULLY the 300d would be like that
i could always take ti back for warranty. but i bought it in china so i always have that feeling of not being able to trust them... im paranoid that when they take it back, they'll fix something in it and the take some other original canon parts out and replace it with some cheap aftermarket crap and sell the original parts... im always paranoid when i get things serviced in china =T

One lockup at 3,500+ images no biggie hasn't happened again.
