I was late for work. It was worth it.

Do you mind the tree being directly behind his head like this?

I truly think this would look better if I had used Capture 1. I can't wait.

You want a challenge? Try getting a White Breasted Nuthatch in focus. Geez!

I waited months for a titmouse. Now I've been getting them somewhat regularly.

4 out of 5 shots on the same branch. It's time to rebuild SuperFeeder. It's been bugging me lately. SuperFeeder 5 is on the way...

Now for a silly question... Any idea how I can peel bark off a tree and keep the bark in one piece? I'd need about 18" tall by 12" around....

Three out of Four Birds on the very same branch, in exactly the same position? COOL! 8)
Nice catches. :D

Very nice bird pictures.
May I suggest you try to add a background with leaves to your bare branch setup.
Best Regards

Sweet images Scott.
Re peeling bark. Bring the branchs up here with you. Leave them in the facilities down stairs. Wife says I can peel the paint off the walls so bark off of branchs should be no problem.

Jose: Already planning that. I, too, am getting bored with this plain background over and over again,

IanD: No Comment.

they are beautiful shots.

my dad used to skin the bark so well.
I wish I could ask him
I know he tapped the bark of a small broken branch
(in his hands at this stage)... tapped it a lot. with the blunt end of his penknife.. and the outer wood slid off then

but maybe he done something else :?

he also had resin with him
(which he used on his violin bow otherwise)
I was only a child and can't remember too much of what he done exactly

maybe this is something like you want to do
(he was making whistles for the children walking with him, just a penknife and the tapping....
not real sure about the resin,
he had with him on walks ) :?

these are gorgeous birds.

the second shot especially I love
the first , and the others ....are so clear

Scott -

Nice pictures.

Yup, if we were be critical, the branch ~could~ be moved away from their head. But, I think they are cool shots nonetheless.

So, from what I can gather, this is a staged area/feeder? Do you have any pictures of the whole ensemble?

JLS - Yes, it's a feeder pole. I call it "SuperFeeder" since it currently has 5 feeders hanging. It goes through evolutions - I originally had 2 feeder poles and they evolved with sticks attached and stuff and then I built SuperFeeder 1, and it keeps getting changed and it's ready to get changed again... This one lasted about 2 months, the longest I think.

Very interesting.

Here's one that JZaun put up: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=41118&highlight=feeder

I think cmM has one, too. Curos is planning on building one.

We've gotten a large number of great feeder bird pics. And it's a way to keep you happy throughout the winter, since any birds still around *will* visit.

And you stay warm, since you can stay indoors and shoot. :)

This is my favorite SuperFeeder pic so far:

Awesome.

I have a feeder with nest and all but the birds seem to enjoy just looking at it from a distance.

I think the tree behind the head adds to the composition of the first one.
