I'm not into the shot that much. One thing it has going for it is saturation and the "wet" look of the trees and grass.

IMO Other than that, the sky is "muddy", and the shadows are extremly harsh, and with the framing, I am confused, am I to focus on the people, the green, or the skyline

What camera are you shooting with?

The golf course was just there while I had breakfast, but then I saw these caddies get in the frame, and it just made me jump to my camera. Being so, I guess my intentions were to focus on the caddies, using as much of the grass and trees as possible. I pushed the saturation to high levels, and I also darkened shadows intentionally to create more depth. As a golfer, I guess I was trying to convey a feeling, rather than a true to nature exposition. And I never really thought of the sky really, it was very overcast, and there was not much at least I could do about it. Thanks for your critique!

JCK -

I saw your picture this morning and think there is potential in it. But, unfortunately, it failed to keep my attention. Figuratively, I found myself wondering throughout the picture without any clear direction. I think the main problem with it is the crop--there is no focus (or at least the crop ~allows~ me to wonder too much).

Although I couldn't play with it today at work, now that I'm home, I hope you don't mind that I cropped the picture to provide a couple different 'atmospheres' as examples.

For your reference, the only thing I changed in the picture was the crop, but I think you can see how it can dramactically effected the feel of the picture.

As an aside, I think the saturation is a bit over done, but I suppose opinions will vary.

BTW, this first one is my favorite.

Thanks JSL, I agree your first cropped shot looks better. I was just happy to squeeze colors out of this shot. I did push things a bit far. This is what I started with.

It's a great course, but I would have waited for the caddies to move out and the cart path, I'm a golfer, is a bit of a distraction. The more natural colors look a lot better than being cranked up.

Keep Shooting these don't look bad at all. I find that it is best to keep shooting and try to find the right shots for each hole if you can.

I find it helpful to have the golfers in the picture doing the golfing. I like the setting up feel of the picture but the act of golfing is more captivating I think..

Just on the colour saturation, you could have just boosted the greens in photoshop, and then the yellow in the caddies jackets wouldn't have gone into overdrive and given the oversaturation away, making the green of the grass much more believable, it is a golf course after all, I often suspect they mix green tint in the the irrigation water.

You're right, I should've upped the green alone. And they do add color to water, and most pics of golf courses I see are manipulated. Video as well, let's face it, things look better in color, if it's color related!
