What can you tell me about it?

Likes? Dislikes? Is there anything that you wish you would have known before you bought it? Anything else?

Excellent printer. Color and black and white prints blew me away. Not one clog and I've had it since the beginning of last year. Ink usage is very thrifty. Only con I know is the size. What I wish I've known is the ipf5100 was announced 30 days after I bought it. You can get a great deal on the ipf5000 since the ipf5100 came out. Whatever printer you get ensure you can use roll media.

The roll feeder is finicky, mine used lots of ink while idle during the 'auto check/cleaning'. Print quality is great though, very very cumbersome printing though. The menus on the printer have to match what you choose in the print driver and vice versa. Very limited profile options. You will need to buy a profiler to really benefit.

Now that is a quixotic statement. Could you please elaborate on "profiler".

Only profiles I use are the monitor calibration and those for the printer that the paper manufactures provide. Never had to build a custom profile. As for ink usage on the auto check/cleaning, there have been reports that firmware version 1.25 seems to have reduced the amount of cleaning. They are up to 1.31. True the menu items need to match but the learning curve is a snap. There are many printers out there and it is a big investment. Ink will set ya back $700 to replace all 12 forthe ipf5000/5100. If you print only a few then your better off with a print service. Best advice is shop around and check all the pro's and con's of all the different makes and models for the max size of media you intend to print.
