Hi All,
I had my powershot S5 few months back and quite happy with the camera. But the situation have changed since last month in Shanghai/Hong Kong shooing some night pictures. Found the noise is terrible(almost not acceptable).
Beside change to lower ISO, lower exposure, night scene.....any advise to reduce the noise level ?

In camera there isn't much to be done besides lower the ISO. You could try a program like Noise Ninja in post.

I had a Sony H5, very similar to a S3 IS so pretty much similar to a S5, anyways... they are all P&S cameras with smaller sensors than DSLRs. On my Sony anything about ISO200 was garbage, so keep it low. My H5 didn't have a hotshoe for a flash, but now that I am using an external flash I notice a huge difference on my Rebel with the external flash and then setting the camera in M (manual) mode with as high a shutter speed as I can. So I would suggest using an external flash if possible. If not... Av mode set to the lowest aperture and use a tripod. I like to use the self timer rather than the shutter in this situation just incase I shake it a bit.

Thanks for advise but I am looking at some night photos taken by lower range of canon camera (powershot Axx) . There give better picture in term of noise level.
By the way, how do I post picture in here ... I do have some sample to show ...

The A camera might have fewer pixels, or a bigger sensor, or both, or more noise reduction applied as part of the camera processing (out of your control). At some point with noise reduction you start to lose detail and it begins to look plasticky.

you can sign up at http://photobucket.com to host your photos, or just go to http://imageshack.us to quickly upload with no fuss (there are many others as well, I'm sure there is a sticky somewhere).
With night shots the keeper rate is going to be much lower than day shots, use of a tripod is important and overall skill of the photographer.
