A buddy of mine asked me to shoot some of his guitars for him.
Let me know what you all think.

You need to get the ones with background away from the background and OOF! You might want to take these over to Macro forum where you'd get some good advice.

They really are not interesting shots. I would work with angles and DOF. The blue napkin background looks real cheap. Also clean the headstock and tuning knobs on the Takamine. By the way, nice sunburst LesPaul

Great shots David, although not sure if they are really performing arts.
What lighting set up/settings did you use?

Good shots man.
On the headstock next time I would be sure to get it much cleaner. I can see little specks of dust and lent on the headstock. I would also watch for glare when you shoot a headstock that is black. I would also play with DOF a bit more. For my liking the blue background is to in focus you might also think about blowing the background out next time...
Good shots though man.

Hi!
only the 5th one looks to me like a pro shot. To the others I got the feeling of 'just snapshots', mostly because of uncontrolled busy background. You should move the guitar away from the background, and that would blur it, so It would look more constant and solid. The composition of the last two is very nice, don't like the other ones... Sorry if my criticism was too harsh. Keep on shooting.
Cheers,
Robert
BTW. I think it is not the best forum for that topic.
