OK, forgive my newbieness here....not completely versed on all the correct terms, but here's what I've got.

Just got a lens back from Sigma after being rechipped to work with the DRebel. Lens works fine now, but I noticed when I took the rear cap off to put the lens on the camera, that there was a nice big smudge on the glass back there. Looks like something (finger or something) was wiped across the glass and smeared some kind of oil or something on it.

I took some test shots and didn't notice any effect on the image, but the fact that it's there bothers me. What's the best way to clean that part of the lens?

Same as you'd clean the front element. Lens tissue and lens cleaning solution (in moderation). If it's not on an exposed surface, don't go any further, but maybe refer it back to Sigma.

But, the title says it's on the inside of the lens.

Again, excuse my newbieness. By "inside" I meant the part of the lens that is closest to the sensor...inside the camera.

No worries then, just clean it off :-)

No prob. That's exactly how the body of your post sounded.

Ah , ok, then no problem.
It sounded like you meant "inside" the lens.

Sounds good. I just didn't know if there was anything to be careful of there.

You mean the back element?? right??

.....if its inside.........then you'll have to pry your lens open and swipe the lens from the other side..............though I would not suggest doing that.
