Maroon Bells is a nice location especially in the autumn. You could probably improve the photo with a few simple things. Firstly, this image is a bit washed out as it was taken in the middle of the day. Try early morning or evening. I forget which direction this mountain faces. Secondly your composition leaves too much sky and puts the mountains right in the middle. It is usually better to have the object of focus a bit further off of center. You also want to fill up your frame with the main object and limit the sky unless the sky itself is stunning. Another thing you could do is to watch your foreground. Try and find some interesting object to have up front. Your pond might have worked, but as it filled only part of the frame, the viewer's eye is led off of the photo. Lastly, be careful about anything that might distract the viewer, such as the dead tree infront of your main subject.

Keep at it and it will come! If you are serious about landscape photography, spend time looking at professional landscape photos. Identify the photos that you most like and then try to figure out how they did it. Pay careful attention to composition and lighting.

You're on the right track. Don't give up!
