Artist requests image for reference?

I got an email request by someone requesting to use my images for references for paintings. This is what he wrote:


Mike,

I love your photo images.. beautiful!!!!

I am a wildlife artist and I would like to see
if you would permit me the use of some of
your photo images as reference to paint
wildlife paintings.

I hope you can help me and I hope you
can provide them in Hi-Res Digital Images.

Please email me back and let me know. I
look forward to hearing from you. I can provide
you limited edition art prints after I complete the
painting if any of the images in the painting are
references of your photos. If you’d rather have
payment please let me know what you charge
for you images as artist references

I will not use your photos in any fashion other
than to observe as reference to paint wildlife
paintings.

I'm not sure what to make of it. It kind of seems like a carbon copy email. I did a search to see if anyone else had seen something like this but didn't come up with anything.

Any thoughts? I have had someone ask me the same thing before, but it was on a different forum from someone I was familiar with.

How hi-res does he want & what's he going to do, blow it up & paint by the numbers? ;)
Can you give him one with a few © notices on it & see what he delivers back?

Agree with Frank - there's no way a painter would need high-res images... tell him you'll give him an 800x600 at 72dpi - any painter could easily use that for reference, but it's not big enough for him to print or do anything else with
