Where can you get small plastic cases to put extra AA batteries in? Like to have a case or two that will hold four AA batteries.

I just use elastic bands. Cheap and quickly accessible.

I just got some plastic clip lock cases off eBay. They were $6 all up for 6 cases that each hold 4 batteries. I thought it was a good deal.

IMHO these are the best...
The Dot Line AA Battery Case is a handy little accessory to throw into your gear bag. This useful item keeps your batteries safe from dust and moisture, and protects them in a soft lined case. The plastic translucent case not only holds 8 batteries, but keeps the contacts from coming into contact with each other.

I use the plastic Q-tip sample packs they hold 6 AA batteries. They will also hold 2 of the XTI camera batteries too. I spent .99 cents and used the Q-tip too great value.

I get mine from thomasdistributing.com. They have both 4 and 8 battery packs that both hold AA and/or AAA batteries.

I'm not sure why I'll spend thousands on gear, but nothing on battery cases so I'm wondering if I'm missing something. Aside from looking pretty, what function do the cases perform? I'll admit those ones from BH look pretty cool.

They hold batteries. There are just diff types. I have a pouch that holds 6 AA's. I use it to hold 4 AA's and 2 CR2 for my remote. Also holds 2 CF cards. Then I have some of those 4 AA holders but I only carry 2 sets and one is in there and the other in the pouch I'm set.

Helps keep them together and organized. I put my batteries in with the terminals pointing one way for the charged batteries; when I pull the dead ones out, they go back in the box with the terminals pointing the other direction. With AA cells in this (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/491481-REG/Dot_Line_PC_AA_AA_Battery_Case.html), the positive terminals to the center are for good cells; when used the they go back with the positive terminal to the outside.
BP-511s go in plastic Sucrets throat lozenge boxes (http://www.sucrets.com). Terminals down for good cells, terminals up for used. Each box holds 2 batteries snugly; you can use Canon's terminal cover on one, but not both, of them.

Those are great ideas. I think I might try the Sucrets boxes. I really like the yellow plastic containers, but I'm not sure I want to spend $7 to hold something worth $15. :o It gives me an idea though. Charged batteries in elastics all facing the same direction. Used batteries in the elastics with one ore more batteries in opposite direction.

If the charged ones alternate, they're ready to drop in the flash; just squash the bundle to shape, partially insert into the battery compartment, peel off the elastic and release.

I think they are. I have the Delkin-branded ones. Quite handy for slipping into a pocket.
