Haven't had much chance to try this yet, but...

I'm not big on spending a whole lot for image processing since I'm just starting out with this whole PP thing. This is a free (for you windows folks) piece of software that will run on a Windows machine running the .net framework updates available from Microsoft.

This has some nice built in tools...clone stamp, laso, magic wand, noise reduction, an unsharpen mask plug-in, curves, levels, etc. Plus there is an on-line support forum with a bunch of tutorials on how to do things.

I don't know how it compares to any of the pay-for versions, but for a freebie and a newbie, it seems to be pretty powerful if for nothing other than teaching me what I'm doing.

Attached is a quick look of before & after some image PP...shot was at 1/800, f2.8, ISO 800, 200mm. For reference, it's the 70-200 f2.8L IS lens.

Free is great!! But you don't mention which one is Before and which one is After, I'm presuming the second one is After but the first one looks the more natural image.
Which is which?

Hmmm, I prefer the first, but great link for the software :D

I think there are a bunch of things I need to learn...one is that the sharpness setting in my camera is currently at 4...which is probably a lot higher than what others are using. Conveniently (I think) I shot that in raw, so I might just go back and have a look-se at what I can do by eliminating the sharpening from the camera and adding some via the software...

Initially, I just wanted to try reducing some of the noise...in all honesty, It's hard to tell what I'm going for since I'm really just beginning to try and make shots "pop".
