Very moody...I like the contrast between the relatively soft clouds and the sharp smoke or steam. Great silouhette.

Cool Picture, it has a nice gritty feel to it. Is that from perhaps Harrisburg or Albany?

Love it. The shot really tells a story about the place. Good work.

Yes, I did. Was trying to go for that old grainy B&W film look.

Love it. The shot really tells a story about the
place. Good work.

Thank You Much!

HA ...Harrisburg! You from the area?

I grew up in the Willamette Valley. At first I thought that was a shot of either the stinky papermill or Wachang outside of Albany (my hometown).. but I don't recognize the tall smoke stack. Where was this taken?

Fantastic shot, by the way!

I am pretty sure that it is Harrisburg. I also grew up in Albany, North Albany to be exact. Graduated from HS in 1980. My wife and I raised our sons in West Linn and Lake Oswego and just recently moved to Alaska. A long awaited dream come true for me. Amazing place and won't be moving anytime soon.

Glad you like the image and thanks for stopping by.

Thats a really cool shot. Very dramatic.
I keep thinking that the big stack on the left is on an angle but that could just be my head leaning to one side!

Go Bulldogs!

I grew up in North Albany too! Although I didn't from West Albany until 1995. ;) Crazy small world! My parents still live on the corner of Springhill Dr. and Peachtree Ln. Growing up I used to have a paper route all around Nebergall Loop. Wow.. memories flooding back now.

Myself, I moved to Portland and have found my own home in the city. I'm sure Alaska is amazing! Thanks again for sharing.

Very dramatic shot, the smoke/clouds rendered rather well in black and white. Thanks for sharing.

Oh Boy, It has been so long since I took that shot. The RAW image is buried in a huge stack of DVDs and would take me a month to find it. I have since started keeping an index of my keeper captures. I believe that I used the 28-135mm lens ...most likely just underexposed it a tad ...Sorry, wish I had more info for you. If and when I do track it down I will send you a PM. Thanks for looking. :D

Ha, all those areas I am familiar with. One of my best friends was John Haggerty, he has since passed away. John's dad was a dentist and lived up Scenic Drive. We used to fish Thornton Lake, Skateboard down Riverview Heights at 2:am, Hop freight trains from Albany to Phylomath, Scrounge for stray golf balls on the local courses and sell them to the golfers making sometimes $30 in a day. That was a fortune for ten year old kids back in the early seventies. What a blast we had!

Also, dated Stoddard and Dr. Sabo's daughters back in the late seventies, hung out with the Shipmen, Brosart, Lanham and Reimer families. Names you might be familiar with.

Anyhoo, Thanks for the flashback, It was fun!
