Yeah, that one is true but it is a DO lens so as to save weight, as you say, and size. Good walkaround IMO and useful in lower light.

bit soft though at 500 mm...i was expecting it to be the same sharpness as my 70-400 2.8...

well, actually it is as sharp, but hey you cant complain for the money, right?

The 400mm 5.6L will get IS. In a surprise move , Canon will not raise the price
