From what I can gather, we *may* not see a new Canon 5DMarkII announced at PMA, but at Photokina. Rumored specs sound impressive, 16 megapixels, improved weather/dust sealing, 14 bit Risc processor, 4-5 FPS. Price point, probably around $3000.
Also there are rumors of an Xti replacement, and a Canon 7D, priced lower than the Canon 5D MarkII, at around $2000.
This I find a bit harder to believe. Wouldn't such a model cut into the 5D MarkII sales, assuming the specs were between the current 5D and the upcoming 5D MarkII (13-14 megapixels)

I feel more confident about the Xti replacement and the 5D MarkII (or whatever it's called). I'm pretty sure we at least see these...announced in 2008. The question is, at PMA or this fall at Photokina? A very reliable source, has told me..this fall. I'll see how good this source is, within a couple of weeks.:)

There's a ton of speculation happening right now. This still belongs in the RUMOR section.

I hope the MODs will move this, if necessary. I posted it here, since I'm considering buying a 5D or waiting, and thought others might be on the fence.

This should really be moved to the rumor section, but I too am awaiting the release. I thought, at least from other rumors, that the 5DMkII or 7D was the same camera.

Yup. Rumor site.

I'm sure a bunch of people are on the fence. Canon doesn't leaky much for real info, so everything you read is likely just speculation and wishful thinking.

I hope they release a 5d upgrade, very soon. 14mp, 5+ fps, FF(naturally), AF at least as good as the 40d, ISO-safety-shift(ala 1d-III). Maybe make it crop to 1.3x or 1.6x for 7+ fps(but not loose AF/AE in the process like Nikon). Even with the 1d-III fiasco, I'd likely be an early adaptor with these features.

All of Canons camera get about a 2 megapixel increase with each new version, the exception being the 1Ds which has been getting 5 megapixels each time.

I personally would like to see Canon release say a 3D. It ould be a 14 Megapixel 1Ds without the built in grip...Im thinking EOS 3.
